1-Day Itinerary: Colca Canyon – From Arequipa to Puno The day begins with pick-up in Arequipa at 3:00 a.m., followed by a three-hour journey to the town of Chivay, where a breakfast is included before entering the valley. The route then continues to the traditional village of Maca, known for its colonial church and Andean atmosphere. The next stop is the Antahuilque Viewpoint, an exceptional location offering panoramic views of ancient pre-Inca terraces that shape the Colca landscape. The highlight of the day takes place at the Cruz del Cóndor, the most iconic viewpoint in the valley. From here, it is possible to witness the majestic flight of the Andean condor, often soaring above the canyon’s dramatic cliffs. On the return towards Chivay, a stop is made at the hot springs (optional) for those who wish to relax in their natural pools. Upon arrival in Chivay, time is provided for an (optional) lunch at our local restaurant. The journey to Puno continues across high Andean landscapes. Along the way, stops are made at the Volcanoes Viewpoint, offering views of impressive peaks such as Misti, Chachani and Ampato. The route then enters the Salinas and Aguada Blanca National Reserve, home to llamas, alpacas and vicuñas, ideal for observation and photography. Before reaching Puno, the itinerary includes a visit to the Lagunillas Viewpoint, which offers spectacular views of high-altitude lagoons surrounded by mountains and wildlife. Arrival in the city of Puno is scheduled for approximately 7:00 p.m., concluding a day filled with nature, culture and unforgettable scenery.
